Beastly is a modern take on “Beauty and the Beast.” Kyle (Alex Pettyfer) as the beast and Lindy (Vanessa Hudgens) as Beauty. Kyle is popular and has an ego to go with his incredibly good looks. One day he makes Kendra (Mary-Kate Olsen) very angry and she curses him. She takes away his beauty and makes him into a monster. He has a year to find love or he will be stuck like that forever…
The movie Beastly is an amazing movie about love isn’t what’s on the outside it’s what on the inside. Although Alex looked looked the part he could have played it a little better. In some parts he would act very angry and just kind of over did what he had to do. Vanessa I think played her part very well in some parts she could have done just a little better. Over all she did very well. My favorite character was definatly Neil. He played Kyle’s blind home school teacher. His sarcasm was almost perfect. Although the movie isn’t a comedy he really made you laugh sometimes.
The make up and the special effects were unbelieveable. When you would look at Kyle’s face it really looked like his face actually looked like that. There were cuts, veins, he was bald and so much more. On his wrist he had a tree and when a year was up the flowers would bloom and it really looked there was an actual tree on it. At some parts the would even have little decorations on the tree for the holiday. I thought that was funny. When there were lose ups on his face you would really think that some body cut his face up because it looked that real. It was realy incredible, kudos to the make up artists.
Another thing I absolutely loved about the movie is the story line. Even though it was based off the Beauty and the Beast, it was still very goood. Im a sucker for a love story, espcially this one. The event in which they occured weren’t the same but mostly similar. In other movies based off other stories like the Karate Kid, which was based off the original Karate Kid you could just tell what would happen next. Everything was so predictable. In this movie you don’t know what would happen next. It’s very different but very similar in many ways.
If you’re going to spend $8.00-$10.00 on this movie trust me it is well worth it. It was the best $10.00 I literally ever spent. When I was going to see this movie I wasn’t too sure about watching the movie but when I left I wanted to see it again. It was honestly one of the best movies I have ever seen. So if one of your movie theater has the movie playing go see it! You’ll probably like it.
